Summary: What is Notion?
Imagine if Google Sheets and Google Docs had a super-powered baby…
Enter: Notion! This super-powerful database platform is perfect for anyone who is in love with writing platforms like Google Docs and has a basic knowledge of a platform like Google Sheets. From integrating tables and databases to creating intricate content planners, Notion is your ultimate one-stop shop for all of your favourite features.
Notion makes creating databases easy because it simplifies the process for Hot Girls Who Notion or anyone who wants to learn how to use Notion.
I started Hot Girls Who Notion for anyone wanting to learn the basics of Notion and create a customised system that fits your daily lifestyle.
Step 1: Understand Notion
Notion can be confusing in the beginning, but the key to understanding Notion is your approach to the platform: It’s a living database that works for you! Notion has the ability to track information and content pages as you work on them. With Notion AI, you can also use Notion to analyse and create content and layouts that fit your needs.
Notion is unique because you have to use it to really understand how it works. It takes practice to make the most of the platform, and I’m going to guide you through the process of starting your Notion journey by building a personal dashboard.
Start with the Properties
Notion is built on blocks and information selectors called “Properties.” These blocks are important because they offer a variety of options to build any database platform you can imagine. Databases come in different views for the same information, which makes it easier to view the information based on your personal preference. Notion is formatted to show your information in ways that work best for you.
Today, we will be using the Database platform, properties, and different Notion blocks to develop a personal dashboard that works for you. Everything you need to do is either a personal list or a notes item.
Step 2: Build your Personal dashboard
Notion is perfect for a personal dashboard because you build a personal layout to see everything you need to do from your work, personal life, social life, and more! I’m going to teach you how to build your personal dashboard in less than 60 seconds to help you practice how to use Notion.
Let’s put together the personal dashboard that will help you get comfortable with Notion properties.
Create your personal task list and notes database
Click the “/“ button on your keyboard and select the database (inline) property on your blank Notion page.
Add a property for “last time edited” and select tags so you can sort through the different pages in the future, based on the last time you edited your Notion page.
Let’s add another property for tags as well. The tags property will help you organise and categorise your content into different views when you filter for the tags. These property tags will separate your Notion content for the future.
Step 3: Planning your Personal and Work Life in Notion
Important: Create a filter for personal under the “personal” section and work under the “work” section
Separating these sections with tags will ensure you’re able to make lists under each individual tag category without any topics mixing. We’ll create the database for work, and for planning your daily activities, we’ll add a checkbox, date and a select property with your two options: Personal and Business. The personal section is perfect for daily activities and reminders, while the business section focuses on specific work tasks.
Optional - Create a Calendar View
If you’re going to get into using Notion as a daily calendar, you can use the calendar view to see your tasks in a different layout. Calendar views are perfect for knowing the upcoming tasks, and you can also filter them based on personal or business views! It will keep you on track with upcoming tasks and project deadlines if your brain works better with a calendar view.
